Over at the Lonesome Road Review, Aaron has posted my reviews of Terry Baucom’s new ‘solo’ album and the digital reissue of Bill Grant & Delia Bell’s excellent Rollin’ release from 1981. I was prepared to be under-whelmed by the Baucom album, for no reason other than the album cover. Instead, I was blown away by the quality of the recording for any number of reasons: see http://lonesomeroadreview.com/2011/08/01/in-a-groove-by-terry-baucom/ for specifics. As for Rollin’, I’ve written about the Rebel reissue campaign elsewhere (http://www.countrystandardtime.com/blog/fervorcouleebluegrass/entry.asp?xid=754) but have expanded on those thoughts here: http://lonesomeroadreview.com/2011/08/01/rollin-by-bill-grant-delia-bell/
My initial enthusiasm for the album has been maintained from the distance of a couple months.
I have a stack of albums awaiting review and I hope to be busy writing over the next couple weeks.
Thanks for visiting Fervor Coulee. Donald
