Calgary Folk Music Festival, 2010   Leave a comment

While the CFMF isn’t as large as its northern cousin in Edmonton, many would argue that it is a more enjoyable event. The setting on Prince’s Island Park is vastly superior to Edmonton’s Gallagher Park. The atmosphere is more pleasant, in my opinion- less frantic, perhaps- but the talent this festival purchases is every bit as appealing. This year’s lineup has been announced, and appears stellar. July 22-25.

Greg Brown is always a must see. Three acts should attract the kids- DJ Logic and DJ Delores as well as the very interesting Dehli 2 Dublin. Etran Finatawa should be spectacular, as should e.s.l. The United Steelworkers of Montreal, Ian Tyson, Corb Lund, Steve Pineo, Timber Timbre, Sunparlour Players, Tom Russell, OX, Mississippi Sheiks Tribute Project, The Avett Brothers, and others hold down the roots front.

I’m looking forward to it. http://www.calgaryfolkfest.com/artists/
