That famous quote- Writing about music is like dancing about architecture- never seemed more true as I attempted to describe Diana Jones and her new release High Atmosphere. In the end, I was quite satisfied with the piece that I wrote that has been posted at Country Standard Time- http://www.countrystandardtime.com/d/cdreview.asp?xid=4701
The album has a wonderful mixture of sounds; it is engaging, thoughtful, and beautifully executed. So many of the songs deserve mention. One that I couldn’t quite fit into the word count restraints that CST has for reviews was about a haunting song called “I Told The Man.” This coal mining ballad explores similar territory as her beautiful “Cold Grey Ground” from 2006’s My Remembrance of You.
I don’t know if I will have a more favourite album this year. By the way, I found this interesting video for the title cut on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOsSbw9ffBA
