There is a lot more that I should have said about this incredible recording, one that takes country music and flips it into something completely new, but space limitations were a challenge. Stand For Myself doesn’t ‘sound’ like country music- not even as much as her previous album- but it ‘feels’ like country music filtered through a different lens and a lifetime of perspective.
